Great addition; a couple caveats,
by byte_man, 2009-01-09
These arrived yesterday. I followed all the great tips posted here (thanks, folks) and the setup went well. I will post a couple pics of how the setup looks in real life. After playing a couple hours, I clearly enjoyed the flexibility that the cymbals provided. I also checked them out in freestyle mode (playing along with a Talking Heads MP3) and in Drum Trainer... great stuff. There are three DYI things that I'll need to address to really enjoy them: 1) These raise the center of gravity of the drum kit, so there is more wobble. Time to market some official Rock Band sandbags to weigh down the drumset feet! Seriously, I will need to put a couple heavy books on the feet and also improvise a cross-bar to prevent twist-wobble on the legs. 2) The cymbals are kind of noisy when you hit them. Just when I got used to the quieter RB2 drums! Time for a variation of the RB1 drumset sock mod. 3) One the cymbals is less sensitive than the others, despite how much I tighten or loosen the cap, or change position. Not enough of a bother to return, but I'll definitely need to postion it among the three cymbals to where the problem is mitigated.
All in all, worth the money.
Loving it so far!,

We have only had the cymbals a few days, but so far, we are loving them!
If you install them correctly, they don't slip, and they aren't in the way of the drum pads.
Great and inexpensive add-on to the RB2 drum set!
Awesome Addition to Rock Band Drums,
by Jeffrey K Wilson, 2009-01-08
These are hands down the best things I've added to my Rock Band drums outside the silencers. They make the drums more fun to play, and personally, on some songs easier to play. One thing if you're considering the cymbals, is to skip straight to the 3 pack...Since the cose of the 1 and 2 pack seperatly is almost $50, whereas these are $35.99 ($40 when not on sale). I was debating 2 or 3, but since it was only $6 more for 3, that made my mind up.
They fit very nicely on the drum set and compliment the look of it. I would highly recommend these to anyone who uses the drums in Rock Band.
Plastic is still plastic,
by Rock Mom, 2009-01-06
While I am not the primary user of this cymbal expansion kit, I did have to help my son in putting it together. After all was said and done, plastic is still plastic and it still cracks and breaks when "cranking down" on plastic nuts and bolts to hold the cymbals in place. We still have an issue of one of the cymbals working its way down the pole slowly after repeated use. A simple rubber band will fix it though. He has thoroughly enjoyed this accessory in the whole Rock Band experience.
Huge increase in fun,

I got lucky and found the triple cymbal pack for Rock band 2 last week. I had my usual Rock Band crew come over this past Saturday to test them out. Installation was complicated, the instructions don't really help; but once we figured out the layout everything stayed on nice and tight. The cymbals didn't wiggle around or move at all during gameplay.
Playing the Rock Band 2 drums before was already awesome but adding the triple cymbal pack takes everything to a new level. I felt like a real drummer. there were certain beats to some songs where it just felt natural and awesome of going from the cymbals to the drums. They did a great job in making me feel like a real drummer.
After about four hours of pounding from the adults and a ten minute session from my four year old who pounded the heck out of these, the cymbals kept on going without any issues. I picked up quickly and easily on using the cymbals and don't know how I ever played this game without them!
I think the few reviews here which say the cymbals stopped working after an hour or two just got a bad set. The quality is nice and everything is solid and doesn't feel like cheap plastic/rubber.
If you play this game a lot and want to feel like a real drummer, do yourself a favor and pick these up.
The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 is because the installation could have used better instructions and that sometimes you have to hit the cymbals hard to get it to register. I will say that you have to hit the cymbals somewhat hard to get it to register. Real cymbals allow you to lightly tap them and you can't really do that here.
