Entirely Addictive,
by Eric G. Faust, 2009-01-08
Yes, this game is extremely addictive. I found myself playing for hours. My only complaint is that there are several different ways to win the game and once you or an opponent wins one of those options then game is over. It would be much better if you could continue playing until all possible ways to win are complete.
Overall this game is well worth the $30 don't hesitate to get it if you like strategy games.
Good Family Game,
by P. Adkins, 2008-12-19
This game stimulated a lot of discussion of history and architecture for our family. Discussing the game designer's decisions about what technologies and advantages each civilization started with was worth the price of the game alone.
Yeah, Yeah, dorky family... ...still we had fun.
A Console Strategy Game Done Right,
by Mathew A. Centgraf, 2008-12-11
This game is different. It is not the same as regular Civilization and it is not like any other console RTS out there. This game uses a very simplified version of Civilization and mixes it with some RTS elements. The game is simplified. And if you can't handle that it you mine as well just go play some Civ4. BUT, If you had a hard time getting into any of the Civ games but always held a great interest this is THE game for you.
In it's simplification Civilization Revolution holds a certain chess like aspect to it. When you move one of your warriors to the wrong place in a difficult match you'll end up wishing for a redo button. Every move counts on the harder difficulties.
Other awesome parts of this game includes the achievements, the colorful graphics, and the many different choices of leaders. Some problems include that the game can occasionally be off-puting when you play a 3 hour game and lose AND get no achievements. But often I learned from my mistakes and that did not happen to often.
Overall this game is well worth the five stars and easily worth the $37 dollar price tag Amazon has on it right now. If you're looking for a great strategy game, do not pass this one up.
Almost,
by Reddog, 2008-12-08
The game is fun when you start playing, but after a little bit you notice all the things that were taken out of the original civilization games. Also as you up the difficulty the other civilizations can create troops anywhere on the map. If you play on deity level it is near impossible to beat.
I do appreciate the random maps. I do get tired of playing on the same maps over and over. So thank you. Once you have played as every civilization there really isn't much reason play the game again.
This game fell short where others in the past were better for consoles. For example LOTR:Battle for Middle Earth 2.
Great fun, fast games and really nice to look at.,
by Melanie Davis, 2008-12-03
I bought this for my son for his birthday. He has played all the versions of this game! He really, really enjoys how fast a scenario goes and all the different achievements. For him, this isn't game that lasts for days and days. A few hours and the scenario is done. Which he likes! I would recommend this game for anyone interested in playing with societies and world dominiation games.
